(Somerville, NJ) This week, Representative Tom Malinowski announced that Frenchtown will receive a $1,388,288 grant and a $1,590,000 loan from the Water and Waste Disposal Loans and Grants program dispersed through the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) office of Rural Development. The funding will be used to install a new gravity sanitary sewer system to each house in the Hilltop area of the Borough of Frenchtown. The project will also eliminate potential groundwater contamination from failing septic systems in the neighborhood.

(Washington, DC) Today, the House of Representatives passed the Great American Outdoors Act which provides permanent, full funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) and establishes the National Parks and Public Land Legacy Restoration Fund. The bill, previously passed by the Senate on June 17th, 2020, is now awaiting signature by the President. Rep. Malinowski voted in favor of this legislation.

(Washington, DC) Yesterday, the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit ruled in favor of landowners who challenged the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s (FERC) use of tolling orders—an unfair practice that blocks landowners from challenging the legality of a pipeline project, while allowing pipeline companies to seize their land and begin construction. This landmark ruling sets a national precedent by requiring FERC to respond to landowners’ requests for rehearing within 30 days.

(Washington, DC) Today, Representative Malinowski’s Protect and Restore America’s Estuaries Act, a bipartisan bill to reauthorize and expand the National Estuary Program (NEP), passed the House 355-62. The NEP provides grants to 28 states to improve the water quality and ecological integrity of our nation’s most significant estuaries, including parts of the Raritan, Rahway, Elizabeth, and Hackensack Rivers in New Jersey. This landmark legislation addresses new threats to America’s waterways, including climate change, and the communities they support.
