(Washington, DC) Today, the House of Representatives passed a resolution calling upon Vice President Mike Pence to mobilize the Cabinet to activate the 25th Amendment to remove President Donald Trump from office. Representative Tom Malinowski voted in favor of the legislation.

“The President of the United States encouraged a deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol to prevent Congress from doing its job to certify the 2020 presidential election,” said Representative Malinowski. “This is unprecedented in American history and must never be repeated. Vice President Pence has signaled that he is not willing to do what is best for our country and begin the process to remove President Trump from office. He leaves us no choice but to pursue impeachment.”

On January 6th, President Trump incited a deadly insurrection against the U.S. Capitol with the intent of disrupting members of Congress who were planning to certify the results of the 2020 presidential election. Five Americans died as a result of the violent attack, and more than 50 police officers were seriously injured, including 15 officers who were hospitalized.
