(Somerville, NJ) On Friday, Representative Malinowski met virtually with local members of Scouts BSA Troop 19 – St. Rose of Lima, Short Hills, and their historic class of female Eagle Scouts. Five members of the troop have been honored with the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout in the first year young women were able to obtain the rank in the organization’s 111 year history. To earn the distinction, scouts must earn merit badges, complete community service hours, and execute a final project that benefits an outside organization while demonstrating charity and leadership. The inaugural class of female Eagle Scouts from New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District includes:

  • Katelyn Cannon, Millburn
  • Keira Lowden, Summit
  • Riya Tyagi, Short Hills
  • Bridget Lomax, Short Hills
  • Morgan Lomax, Short Hills

“While I’ve had many opportunities to speak to Eagle Scouts from around my district, this meeting celebrated a very special milestone,” said Representative Malinowski. “Through their projects, the new Eagle Scouts exemplified leadership and an understanding of the world around them. I was honored to meet with these five trailblazing young women, and I can’t wait to see what they achieve in the future.”
